Middle Aged Skincare Woes

So. Who has crazy middle aged skin? I’ll be 36 this year. And I’ve got acne, pores, wrinkles, flakiness, age spots, sagging…you name it, I seem to have a little bit of everything. And over the last couple of years, my skin has gotten even more schizophrenic and aged.
.
Cue the children: “Mom you look so young in this picture, how LONG AGO was this?”
Me: “Um. Like 3 years ago. You know what has changed in the last three years? You and your sister, my sweet precious dearest keenly observant child.”
.
The other day it occurred to me that I really haven’t changed my skin care routine in like 20 years. 20 years people!?!? I’m still using the same basic routine I was using in HIGH SCHOOL. It was the 1990’s. Justin and Britney hadn’t even hooked up yet! What on earth am I thinking? Do you know how much has changed in 20 years along with my skin?!?
.
This got me thinking if there was a better way to take care of my face? So I’m busy converting from what you see on the left to more of what you see on the right. Only about 2 weeks in and I want at least a good 30 days, I don’t have enough trial under my belt yet to write a full review or blog post. But so far I will say that my skin feels so much better. Reduced pores and less dry flakiness, my wrinkles seem slightly less too because my skin feel more supple. (That’s right. I used the word supple.) The acne I’m still on the fence a bit. We’ll see how that shakes out.
.
In the meantime, while I keep on this trial, I would love to know what you think? How have you changed your skin care routine? And I’m REALLY curious, WHERE do you go for tips and tricks? I’m sorry but a Cosmo or Glamour or the like will never grace my shopping cart again. So where do you get good beauty advice?
